Gel

Why did the Gel not remove the Rust?

If there is a barrier between the Gel and the rust; for example, grease, oil, or the surface has been previously coated with another product the Gel cannot attack and dissolve the rust. Remove the barrier and the Gel will work every time. Some rust converters and rust sealers will prevent the Gel from working.

The Gel dried out and went hard.

If you have allowed the Gel to stay on the surface too long or the surface and ambient temperature is high, water within the Gel will evaporate. To prevent this from happening wrap with plastic/cling wrap. To remove the dried Gel simply wet with a saturated sponge for around 5 minutes to allow the gel to reabsorb the moisture.

Soak

The Rusted Solutions Soak did not remove the rust. Why?

This only happens when there is a barrier between the Soak and the rust. Typicall this is a grease or wax. Previously treated surfaces may also contain a barrier. Remove the barrier and the Soak will work.

I left the item in for days and nothing happened.

If you do not see a noticeable difference within an hour there is some type of barrier. There is no benefit in leaving items in the Soak for an extended period of time. The barrier needs to be removed.

My item turned black.

This will happen when cleaning high carbon steel like drill bits, BBQ plates and saw blades. Simply clean the item with water and a soft bristle brush.

Easy Clean

The Rust/Tea staining was not removed.

Easy Clean is not designed to remove heavy rust. For heavy rust use the Soak or Gel. If it is not removing light rust or tea staining there is likely a barrier. This could be a polish, wax or permanent topical coating. Once you remove the barrier the Easy Clean will work.

The Easy Clean dried out and went hard.

If you have allowed the Easy Clean to stay on the surface longer than 10 minutes it will start to dry out. There should be no need to leave for longer periods, however if repeat application is not possible wrapping the item or surface with plastic/cling wrap will prevent it from drying out. To remove the dried Easy Clean simply wet with a saturated sponge for around 5 minutes to allow the gel to reabsorb the moisture.
